Frequently Asked Questions

What input does this tool need?

A file with two location columns — origin and destination. Each can be a full address, zip code, or postal code. The AI column detector identifies which columns to use.

Can I use zip codes or postal codes?

Yes — US zip codes (5-digit and zip+4) and Canadian postal codes are supported for both origin and destination. Distances are calculated from the centroid of each area.

What's the difference between straight-line and driving distance?

Straight-line (haversine) measures the direct distance between two points. Driving distance follows actual road networks and is typically 20-40% longer. Driving distance is an optional add-on.

Are the add-ons required?

No — all add-ons are 100% optional. The base report gives you straight-line distance between every pair. Add geocoding, driving distance, or address verification only if you need them.

What file formats work?

CSV, TSV, Excel (.xlsx/.xls), and OpenDocument (.ods). Up to 10,000 rows per file.
